Government plans to decriminalise several laws: Piyush Goyal

Commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal on Friday said the government is working on a "holistic decriminalisation law" during the winter session of Parliament to make life easier for businesses. "Decriminalising sections of various laws will end the harassment faced by businesses and reduce compliance burden," he said at the annual session of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The department for promotion of industry and internal trade (DPIIT), which is part of his portfolio, leads the ease of doing business initiative and said the government was focusing on internal processes, reducing the compliance burden and certain laws. "The government's effort is to have a single-window for the processes and approvals and not open any window behind the window," Goyal said.
ONDC floats consultation paper to improve trust
The commerce and industry ministry on Friday came out with a consultation paper to improve the trust of different stakeholders, including consumers, in the open network for digital commerce (ONDC).
