Govt invites applications for 10 NCLT members

The ministry of corporate affairs (MCA) has invited applications for 10 members—five judicial and five technical--for the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT).
The move is part of the broader efforts to fill up vacancies at the NCLT fast to expedite the resolution of cases, especially the insolvency ones.
The adjudicating authority is likely to see vacancies in May 2024 when the terms of some of the existing members will be over. The number of vacancies may change, the ministry said.

As for the vacancies at the NCLT, candidates interested in applying for the post of judicial members must have been a judge in a High Court, or a district judge for five years or an advocate for ten years.
Those wishing to apply for the job of technical members must have been a member of the Indian corporate law service or legal service for at least 15 years and have been secretaries or additional secretaries to the government. Chartered accountants, cost accountants and company secretaries with at least 15 years of experience, too, can apply.
