ICAI elects new President, Vice President

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) today elected Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal as their new President. The baton has been passed from Aniket S. Talati to CA Ranjeet. He has assumed charge as the 72nd President of ICAI.
A graduate of Calcutta University, Agarwal is a practicing Chartered Accountant since last 24 years. He is also a Company Secretary and DISA from ICAI. He was elected to the 23rd, 24th and 25th Central Council of ICAI three times in a row.
Agarwal was serving as the Central Council Member since 2016 and then as Vice President in 2023-24. As President of ICAI, CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal is now by the virtue of his post the Chairman of all the Standing Committees, i.e., Executive, Finance, Disciplinary and Examination Committees, as well as ex-officio members of all Non-standing Committees and Editor of ICAI Journal, The Chartered Accountant. He also Chairs the ICAI research wing Accounting Research Foundation (ICAI ARF), Extensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) India. He is also the Director on the Board of the Indian Institute of Insolvency Professionals of ICAI (IIIPI).
Additionally, Charanjot Singh Nanda has been elected as Vice President for the Year 2024-25. He passed BCom from M L N College in 1987 and was placed in Kurukshetra University merit list during all three years. He was also a rank holder in CA Inter examination and completed his Chartered Accountancy in 1991.
Earlier, Nanda was appointed as Central Council Member of ICAI India. He also served as the chairman for Digital Accounting & Assurance Board, Committee on Financial Markets and Investors’ Protection and vice chairman for Board of Internal Audit and Management Accounting of ICA India. Additionally, he was also the chairman for Committee on Information Technology of SAFA.
