The Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST), Uttarakhand Commissionerate, busted nine fake businesses that raised business invoices of over Rs 135 crore and claimed Input Tax Credit of Rs 20.83 crore, causing that much loss to the government exchequer.
Deepankar Aron, commissioner, CGST Commissionerate, said that during the probe, it was also found that the firms had got the GST registration using fake documents. "We managed to arrest one person who was the proprietor of one of the fraudulent firms named A & A Trading Company on Friday. He was produced before court and sent him to jail. Efforts are on to nab others," he added.
