You ask AI a technical question. It responds instantly—with perfect formatting, structured points, confident tone, maybe even a table. It sounds like the kind of answer you wish your interns would give.
And then you think:
“Good. Work done.”
That’s exactly where the problem begins.
Five minutes saved. Potentially five days of damage created.
Because sometimes, that beautifully written answer is completely wrong.
“It’s like hiring a brilliant intern who has never read the Bare Act. They sound great in the conference room, but they’re probably making it up as they go.”

When this was checked using AI:

On actual verification:
• Those clauses existed—but related to entirely different provisions
• The supposed amendment had no presence in the Finance Bill
What happened here:
• AI picked up incorrect secondary content
• It reinforced the same error
• When pushed for authority, it **fabricated plausible references**
This is a critical pattern:
AI does not just generate errors. It can validate and amplify existing misinformation.
At no point did the AI indicate uncertainty. The error only surfaced when the primary law was checked.

AI explains a provision correctly—but based on pre-amendment law, with no reference to recent changes.
Example 4: Fabricated Circular
A circular number is cited in support of a position. The format looks correct. The circular does not exist.
